Frequently asked questions

What is Microsuction ear wax removal?

Microsuction is a medical procedure used to remove excess or impacted ear wax from the ear canal. It involves the use of a specialised suction device equipped with a magnifying lens, allowing practitioners to see the ear canal clearly while performing the procedure. This method is considered safer and more precise than other techniques like ear syringing or using cotton buds, as it minimises the risk of injury and ensures that the wax is removed without pushing it deeper into the ear.

What are the symptoms of impacted ear wax?

Impacted ear wax can lead to various symptoms and discomfort, including; Hearing Loss; Earache or Discomfort: Feeling of fullness, pressure, or pain in the ear; Tinnitus (ringing or buzzing); Dizziness or Vertigo; Ear itching; Ear infections; Coughing.

Yes, ear wax can indeed cause hearing loss, especially if it becomes impacted or accumulates to a significant degree in the ear canal. The ear canal produces ear wax (cerumen) naturally, and under normal circumstances, it helps protect the ear by trapping dust, debris, and foreign particles. However, excessive or impacted ear wax can lead to hearing problems.
